    The Gardeners' Hymn
    All things bright and beautiful,
    All creatures great and small,
    All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

But what we never mention, though gardeners know it's true,
Is when He made the goodies, He made the baddies too.
    All things spray and swattable,
    Disasters great and small,
    All things paraquatable,
The Lord God made them all.

The green fly on the roses, the maggots in the peas,
Manure that fills our noses, He also gave us these.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

The fungus on the goose-gogs,the club root on the greens,
The slugs that eat the lettuce and chew the aubergines.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

The drought that kills the fuchsiasthe frost that nips the buds,
The rain that drowns the seedlings, the blight that hits the spuds.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

The midges and mosquitoes, the nettles and the weeds,
The pigeons in the green stuff, the sparrows on the seeds.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

The fly that gets the carrots, the wasp that eats the plums,
How black the gardener's outlook, though green may be his thumbs.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

But still we gardeners labour midst vegetables and flowers,
And pray what hits our neighbours' will somehow bypass ours.
All things spray and swattable, etc.

    Prayer

If a prayer can move a mountain
If a prayer can stop a war,
If a prayer can foster love and peace
    ............Where hatred ruled before,
If a prayer can conquer hunger
If a prayer has power to heal,
If a prayer can mend division
............Why are we so slow to kneel?
Offering prayers up to our maker,
    Throughout each brand new day
To change things for the better,
    ............In every kind of way.

    Wise Thoughts?
Hlade's Law: If you have a difficult task, give it to a lazy person. They will find an easier way to do it.
There are three ways to get something done:
    1. Do it yourself.
    2. Hire someone to do it for you.
    3. Forbid your children to do it.
A budget is just a method of worrying before you spend money, as well as afterward.

"Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about puppies." Gene Hill

If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, you can bet the water bill is higher.

When you mix children and religion...
You get some unexpected gems. The following are extracts from religious exam papers...
In the first book of the Bible, Guinesses, God got tired of creating the world so he took the Sabbath off.
Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was Joan of Ark because Noah built an ark. The animals came on in pears.
The Jews are a proud people and throughout history they've had trouble with unsympathetic genitals.
Moses led the Jews to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread which is bread without any ingredients.
The Seventh Commandment is: Thou shalt not admit adultery.
Moses died before he ever reached Canada.
Solomon, one of David's sons, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines.
Jesus enunciated the golden rule, which says do unto others before they do one to you. He also explained a man doth not live by sweat alone.
It was a miracle when Jesus rose from the dead and managed to get the tombstone off the entrance.
The people who followed the Lord were called the twelve decibels.
St Paul cavorted to Christianity down the Damascus Road. There he preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.
    Toy
A young mother was looking over a toy for her small child. "Isn't this awfully complicated for him?" she said to the salesman.
"That madam, is an educational toy, designed to prepare a child for life in today's world. It is very expensive, half of it the government wants sent to them, and any way your son puts it together is wrong."

    It adds up
The debt expert was helping a worried householder. "Let's begin with how you spend your present income."
"Well, about 30 per cent is for the mortgage, 10 per cent on household bills, 20 per cent on food and clothes, 20 per cent on our children's education, 10 per cent on holidays, 20 percent on credit card payments.... "
"But that adds up to 110 per cent...."
"Yes, that's right. So what do we do?"
    Egg
Farmer: "Isn't it wonderful how the little chicks get out of their shells?"
Visitor from city: "Indeed. But what gets me is how they get in there, in the first place."
